Dear Mr Bhalla,
Thanks for hosting this pagey ancestry can be traced from 1840 ie from Kumedan Jeewan Singh Bhalla of Vill Harjowal Sri Hargovindpur. he was awarded the order of merit class III equivalent to present Vir chakra in 1857.
his son was Bunga singh in Punjab Police and Army. his grand son was Darbara Singh alos did a short stint in Army. his great grand son and my grand father was bawa Prem Singh Bhalla a lawyer who shifted to Gurdaspur.
My father was Colonel Balbir Singh Bhalla and his siblings are Jagdish Singh Bhalla (Lawyer) Gurdarshan Singh Bhalla, Vimla Nayar and Kamla sareen.
my siblings are Lt Gen Pradeep Bhalla, Dr Jaideep Bhalla & Ritu Khosla.
I would like to hear from anyone who has any contact with our family please.

It is a fact that Bawa Bhalla is a small community of direct descendants of Shri Guru Amar Das Ji. As for me, my grand parents had settled in Ferozpur Punjab. My father, Bawa Sohan Singh Bhalla had three brothers; Amar Singh,Mohinder Singh and Amir Singh. We are three brothers; self, Krishan Pratap Singh and Sant Pratap Singh. All of us have served in armed forces. I am glad I came across this website. They are indeed doing a good service to this community.God bless all of us!!!! |

We too are from Haryana Bhunga Clan and My Grandfather was Sh. Mohan Lal Bhalla but he joined Indian Railways in Lahore and hence the family moved away and took shape in Lahore and then in Delhi Malviya Nagar after Partitition. I also heard that Bishan Das Bhalla on whose name there is a degree college in Punjab was also related to us.
It indeed is a great feeling to feel belonging to such a proud history. |

Before I go any further, I wish to convey my thanks for such a wonderful piece of work.
Our ancestral (great, great grandfather) came from Sri Hargobindpur , Distt. Gurdaspur.
We had number of house and stables based near Vyaas river. I gather, that these houses are still present. Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to visit this place. Our family had many of sharab-thekes. My grandfather managed to come to Delhi just before the war, whilst the two brothers were still in the process of winding down their lucrative businesses.
My grandfather settled down in Shahdara, New Delhi and carried on his profession with Indian Railways.
I would love hear, if someone is able to throw more lights on our family.

I am doing research on Talwar family where I belong to. It was while surfing net, I came across your web site, well congrats for great job done till date. In fact I was looking for some thing similar to record anecdotes, oral history as told from one generation to another etc.
But then could not find proper software, may be I was in hurry, but came across Scribus, which after down loading is not HTML interface and also has some problems, since I am not software engineer.
My sister is married to Bhalla family, her father-in-law was ex-Army Official, her mother -in law passed away last Dec 2009 at there home in Jullandhar.

My grandfather's name is Ved Prakash Bhalla and he had 3 sons, 1 daughter: Virendar Kumar Bhalla, Narendar Kumar Bhalla, Surinder Kumar Bhalla (my father) and Kanta Khosla.

I am the Nephew of the late Rattan Singh Saini, Lamberdar of Sri Hargobindpur.
Before I came to the US I went to Baring College Batala for one year 1966-67. I knew a Bhalla from your family there. He used to wear a shirt with 007 logo on the pocket. I once visited his house in Sri Hargobindpur and I remember seeign some of your ancestaral pictures there. I am forgetting his name now. Do you know him?
I was last in Sri Hargobindpur in 2003.

I am the youngest grandson of Lala Bishandas Bhalla. I am single and am a sculptor by profession. I live in London and I travel extensively to Europe/India to work with tribal people of Bastar (Chattis Garh). I have recently, infact last month visited my birth place in Panjab SRIHARGOBINDPUR. I visited the school, and the stadium which was built by my grandfather Lala Bishandas Bhalla. The school is rare as a sight, it was initially built for girls in the late 18th/early 19th century.
My eldest brother Darshan Bhalla, who is almost 79 years old has done lot of new construction within that school, , keeping the harmony of the original architecture. He regularly visits the village from Mumbai, to carry on working and improving what ever he could in the village, he has built rooms and has a statue of our grand father installed within the ground of the school. He further has many plans to built and to introduce facilities such as library and awards for the top rank students of this beautifully built school in this village.
Although the old architecture of the village is gradually disintegrating, still the village has it's own charm and character. I took some images while I was there with my British friend, A painter by profession. He also loved the village. If any of you are interested please let me know, I will forward the images with time to you.
I am very proud of my brother Darshan Bhalla just like I am very proud of Baldev Bhalla who is putting in lot of effort to get the Bhalla's together to form a link for lot of us. Any other stories are welcome

Saran Dass Bhalla migrated to Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh, around 1900, after which we our family has stayed on in Himachal Pradesh.
I am a doctor in the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Himachal Pradesh. I have not been able to find any link to Great Grandfather: Sh Gulab Singh Bhalla. I would like some more information.
Kindly update me regarding our ancestors.

My parents Mr. Madan Mohan Kapoor and mom Kamla Kapoor(earlier Kochhar)are from Pakistan. My grab=nd Father from Rawal pindi Mr. Charan Das Kapoor, Father was a great singer.
Mom from Bhoun Chakwal, nana from Karialla . My masar jee fMr. Ram Saran Bakshi was a prominant advocate.
Since i see so many relatives of yours from same places......just thought may be we have a connect.
My parents are in New Delhi , Chittaranjan Paerk and I am settled in Dubai.
Our castes includes Malhotras, khannas, vohra, Jolly, Sarna, etc....

It is really very soothing to see someone working to find its root and putting it on the net.
Only thing I know about my root is my great grand father name is Gendamal Bhalla(He used to live in place call Aaud, Nawa shahar)and my Grand father name is Pyaare lal bhalla.He moved to Ferozpur.
I hope to trace back my roots one day and put it on net. My belief of getting it done is now more firm after looking this website.
